A "birds-eye" view of South Bellingham, WA, 1907. South Bellingham was born from the original town of Sehome which re-incorporated as New Whatcom (then changed its name to Whatcom), and the town of Fairhaven. The two towns consolidated as Bellingham in 1903. By 1907 South Bellingham was a thriving mix of residences and industry. Harris Avenue can be seen running up the right-hand edge of the photo. The square building near the photo's center was home to a major salmon fishing and canning operation known as the Pacific American Fisheries. The "P.A.F" operated in South Bellingham next to another large fishery, the Bellingham Canning Company.
