The steamer Kulshan in harbor, Bellingham, WA, ca.1915. The 160-foot long steel Kulshan was built in 1910 at the Moran Company Shipyard in Seattle and had a displacement of 926 tons. She replaced the steamer Whatcom on the Seattle-Anacortes-Bellingham run. Her captain was "Red Jack" Ellsmore who retired in 1928 after 16 years at her helm. The Kulshan was also replaced that year with the 189-foot Sol Duc, another Moran shipyard product, which boasted a passenger capacity of 163.
