Log cabin homestead of Phoebe and Holden Judson who arrived by canoe to the Lynden area in 1871. In addition to carving a home out of the wilderness, the Judsons were involved in the education of area children, both Indian and white, at their home. They were also instrumental in the development of local trade, and helped other early settlers get established in the area. Phoebe later coined the town's name, Lynden, and Holden served as its first mayor. Both Judsons are buried in the Lynden Cemetary at the entrance to the town.
