Whatcom County Courthouse, Bellingham, WA, ca.1903. This courthouse was the successor to the much smaller Territorial Courthouse on E. Street. This structure was built just after 1890 using local Chuckanut sandstone. The first story housed the jailer and his family, the jail, and a heating system. The second story contained county offices, while the third story contained the court room, the clerk's room, and the jury room. Original plans stipulated that it also contain five, fireproof vaults. Located on G Street, it was used until 1950 when the next courthouse was built. The entire structure was eventually demolished and is now the site of Fouts Park.
