Several large rail cars can be seen on Railroad Avenue at far left. Whatcom Creek flows into Bellingham Bay from the lower right corner of the photo.The photographer, J.W. Sandison, opened a photographic studio in Bellingham in 1904. He was an accomplished portrait and commercial photographer during his many years in the Bellingham area. A collection of his work now resides at the Whatcom Museum of History & Art.
