Train depot, water tower, and siding at Acme, WA, ca.1915. The first train to roll through Acme was the Seattle, Lake Shore & Eastern in 1891, about five years after the town got its name. This line later became the Northern Pacific. When the first church congregation in the area ordered two of the popular "Acme" series hymnals in 1886, the same name was suggested for the community. The name was accepted when the settlers subsequently petitioned for their own post office. For more information and photos of early Acme, visit the Acme Book page.
